For many people, volunteering with Seaford Museum and Heritage Society (SMHS) is a way of developing their interest in local history, using existing skills and acquiring new ones. It is also a really good way of meeting people and contributing to the cultural life of the area.
Volunteers are involved in a wide range of activities from caring for the archives and collections to setting up displays, helping run events, answering enquiries, stewarding and general maintenance.
Volunteers must be 18 or over.
We currently have the following opportunities for volunteering at Seaford Museum. Click on the link below to see what the role involves.
- Collections Assistant Job Description
- Electrician Job Description
- Social Media Administrator Job Description
- Steward Job Description
- Webmaster Job Description
If you are interested in any of these, please download and complete an application form.
After downloading the form you can fill it in on your device, then email it to us. Or you can print it, fill it in by hand and post or deliver it to us. The addresses are at the end of the form. You can also collect a form from the museum when it is open.
You may then be invited to an informal interview at the Museum to determine your suitability for the roles available and to complete a Volunteering Agreement Form. Any offer will also be subject to satisfactory references and proof of identity.
After appointment, volunteers will work for an introductory period of 16 weeks. This is to allow both the volunteer and the museum to decide whether the arrangement suits both parties. The volunteering agreement can be terminated by either side at any time.
Please read our Volunteer Policy for more information on volunteering with us
